Good work ergonomics has a real impact on the health of workers. Fortunately, organizations are increasingly concerned about this aspect, since they are aware that for a company to be healthy and productive, the well-being of its members must come first.
In this sense, the Clinique GO™ team is proud to offer a workplace ergonomics service. We invite you to discover in the following more information about our ergonomics services and their benefits for the organizations that use them.
Ergonomics for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders
During the 2014-2015 Québec Population Health Survey, a portrait of work-related musculoskeletal disorders was drawn up. These data revealed that among workers of all genders, a proportion of 25% of people suffer from such disorders. Carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, lower back pain, cervical tension… The entire body is at risk of injury when an individual’s work and related tasks are not performed in an ergonomic environment.
It should be noted that good work ergonomics is related to several factors, including the physical demands of the tasks (repetitive movements, inadequate postures, heavy lifting, etc.). Work organization is also to be considered, as well as psychosocial factors related to working conditions (salary, autonomy, recognition, work-family balance, etc.).
A word about our ergonomics services
Our corporate ergonomics services are offered to organizations of all sizes, regardless of their field of activity. Our ergonomists can work with office workers to optimize workstations. They can also work with manufacturing companies to evaluate production lines and work organization, as well as industrial workstations. Pharmaceutical companies and laboratories can also benefit from their intervention to promote the health of their workers.
In short, whatever the nature of the work and the related tasks, our ergonomists travel to companies or to employees’ homes (in a telecommuting context). Find out more about the different services that our ergonomists offer to companies.
The advantages of workplace ergonomics
When you know that approximately one quarter of workers suffer from musculoskeletal disorders related to their jobs, you can understand the importance of ergonomics for companies in all sectors.
In concrete terms, as an employer, calling upon ergonomics services in the workplace can allow you to stand out from the crowd and provide your organization with concrete benefits:
- Injury prevention: this is of course the primary benefit, i.e. the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and the injuries that result from them. This allows you to control the direct costs related to these, such as compensation to employees.
- Increase productivity and reduce absenteeism: healthy employees have less need to be absent from the office and, potentially, to be replaced. The impact of low absenteeism on an organization’s productivity can be significant. This helps control the indirect financial costs associated with a non-ergonomic work environment.
- Team member well-being: Demonstrate to your team members that their organization cares about their health and well-being. Make it a competitive advantage that motivates your employees, that pushes them to excel. This advantage can also have a good impact on employee retention and their sense of belonging.
