At Clinique GO™, we have always been committed to providing access to care to the population. In particular, we offer in-home services as well as, for a few years now, several virtual services. Among the latter is online social work. People are often surprised when they learn that it is possible to meet a social worker virtually. And yet, it is a very versatile service!
Qualified professionals with a wide range of expertise
The social workers who offer virtual consultations through our services have the same training and are just as qualified as those we meet in person, for example at the CLSC or in a clinic. They are also members in good standing of their professional order, which oversees virtual practice.
The expertise of the social worker is often misunderstood. In fact, they are professionals who can intervene in a wide range of problematic or difficult situations experienced by a person on a social level and in their daily life. Interventions can be made with adults and the elderly, but also with children and teenagers, especially in relation to school difficulties. From personal difficulties to couple difficulties, as well as the challenges faced by a family, the social worker can provide very relevant advice.
In addition, it is important to note that the social worker is a professional who has a good knowledge of the authorities and resources that are available to the population, based on social issues and specific problems.
Online social work consultation: why ask for it?
Even in a virtual consultation, a social worker can take the time to listen with empathy to his or her client in order to understand the situation he or she is experiencing. The social worker can then provide appropriate advice and guidance to the person through the difficulties they are facing. Even online, one can benefit greatly from a social work intervention.
There are many reasons to seek social work services. The following are examples of reasons for consultation that are relevant to teleconsultation:
- Personal issues such as emotional management, anxiety, self-esteem and assertiveness, etc.
- Relationship and couple problems, communication problems;
- Family problems;
- Difficulties in adapting after a change in living environment or a move;
- Challenges posed by an illness, a health condition or a handicap;
- For advice on the rights of seniors, especially in cases of abuse;
- In case of physical dependence;
- Etc.
An accessible service
To obtain an online consultation with one of our social workers, for any reason, you must fill out a consultation request via our site. A form is available. Once the request is received, one of the Clinique GO™ counselors can contact you to confirm the request and schedule the consultation.
At the scheduled time, the professional will call you to review your needs and to provide the requested services. If needed, a follow-up meeting can be scheduled. All you need is a computer or mobile device with a video calling service.
The virtual advice provided by the social worker is very supportive and can make a difference in a person’s life. If you need help, don’t hesitate to request a consultation with our team.
